SwiftPoint

SwiftPoint- Simtrix

According to Ofcom 'silver surfers' over the age of 65 spend about 42 hours on the web, which is more than any other group (http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,2155196,00.html). When we started using computers for the first time, getting control over the mouse was one of the biggest challenges we faced, although after a while we got used to it. But as we get older learning physical skills can be more difficult, and using the mouse could be one of those difficulties we need to overcome.

Simtrix is a New Zealand company who have designed a laptop mouse that fits neatly into the tips of your finger and allows smooth movement and control over the mouse. Its pen-like grip offers a level of fine movement and control, which is not available with a standard mouse. This Swiftpoint mouse is also much lighter than the standard mouse and is much easier to use. This mouse has been designed and was introduced in early 2008 but it is still not available in the market.

From Activeage's perspective, this mouse could be an ideal product for 'silver surfers' who're not happy or comfortable with using the standard mouse. From a health point of view, it's claimed that, the Swiftpoint reduces the risk of RSI or OOS injuries, which are caused by lateral transitioning, hand/wrist rotation and vertical clicking operation (http://www.futuremouse.com/?q=about)
